Affiliate Programs & Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing and affiliate programs are one of the easiest ways to make money online.  The fundamental concept is simple: instead of selling your own goods and services you earn a commission by selling products and services for others.

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that it effectively eliminates much of the "drudgery" that is involved when you run your own shop.  All you have to do is send internet traffic to the merchant's site and collect a commission if a sale is made.

Consider all of the many steps involved in selling your own products:

• You must HAVE a product available to sell in the first place

• You'll need to set up a website

• Obtain shopping cart software

• Obtain a merchant account to accept credit cards

• Take orders online & organize your orders

• Collect the money

• Ship the product to the customer

• Track the shipment and ensure the customer receives it

• Field all customer support issues, answer calls and emails

• Handle any refunds requested

If you go the affiliate route of selling products or merchandise on the internet, you'll be able to eliminate almost all of the above steps. The only step you need to do is Step 2, and sometimes not even that!.

All that is required of you is to promote the product of another company by using a special web address you are given when you join their affiliate program.  When someone clicks on your link to that product and purchases it, you receive a commission for that sale from the company... that's it.

You may even be able to promote your affiliate link without having a website at all! How? There are other ways to promote your affiliate link without having a website:

• You can place that special web address in the signature line of all your out-going emails, on message boards, etc.
• You may be able to send internet traffic directly to the merchant using Pay Per Click advertising services
• You can simply set up an easy-to-use free blog to promote your affiliate links.
• Get creative - Write a short article about the product or service you're promoting and put your affiliate link in the "resources" section at the bottom of the article. Then submit your original article to the various article sites.

It's entirely possible to earn a decent amount of money every month with little or no experience by using affiliate programs.
